Working for artists and friends Hannah and Rosie, STS were tasked to produce a Pride float that reflected both historical and present-day Pride floats. Their power as monuments of freedom, self-expression and community and also their more recent co-option into the commercial mainstream.
Soft Tissue were tasked to find a product and application within the UK that perfectly mimicked the unique texture of the American rose floats used in displays of power and militarism.
The float was one aspect of a multi-faceted performance, including film, dance, and musical score, the performances were a continuation of their ongoing collaboration with singer-songwriter Jesse Hultberg, dancer Ted Rogers and musicians Severin Black, Owen Pratt and Milo McKinnon.
Commissioned as part of ArtNight 2019 Walthamstow and reimagined in Image Behaviour, ICA, London.
